At Fireking Cafe I hung my exhibition today in the small hours of the morning, the staff did a brilliant job and my photographs are lit beautifully, thank you Fireking Cafe for this opportunity.

The Forum taken with Pearlette
マイケルフェザーです。最近Pearletteカメラで写真を取りました。嬉しかったです。
The above photograph was taken with a Pearlette camera the first mass produced camera in Japan from 1925. It was loaned to me by Yoichi Niiyama, his father Kiyoshi Niiyama used this type of camera extensively in his early photography, winning many awards. This is not the original camera, but as an experiment I tried to use the same type of camera at Yoichi Niiyama’s request, hence the photograph above. This particular version only had one shutter speed working which I guessed to be about a 40th of a second, so armed with that knowledge I set out. I have to say I was amazed with the results for such an old camera. If you want to read more about the Pearlette and their history, click the link below.
