At Okusawa Hospital I received a plaster cast to protect my ankle while it heals. The Doctor was very kind.

Tokyo to Nara, Nara to Kyoto, Kyoto to Tokyo!

Tokyo to Nara, Nara to Kyoto, Kyoto to Tokyo!

A round trip from Tokyo to Nara, to Kyoto and then back to Tokyo is 1079km, about 500km were driven with a broken ankle! Yes the Shinkansen is faster and probably cheaper in the long run, however, driving gives you freedom and flexibility, you also can experience the countryside of this wonderful country.

How true it can be sometimes! 1 minute after taking the above photograph in Kyoto I broke my ankle!  However I did manage to walk around for two more days and drive back from Kyoto to Tokyo before I found out it was actually broken!

Susy and Anil

During a Christmas  holiday  in the UK, Anil and Susy took us for lunch to a little Pub near Warwick called The Boot Inn. Good food with good friends, it doesn’t get much better than that.

We had starters of pumpkin soup and a tasty, warm blue cheese quiche, followed by roast duck leg or roast pork with apple sauce and mashed potato on a bed of local green cabbage. We were so full, we couldn’t manage dessert!

Fish and Chips

Fish and Chips

Fish and chips are probably the most famous food of the UK, so I thought I would share. Usually they are wrapped in newspaper and you eat from the paper as you would a plate! We ate at the Mermaid in Morley, West Yorkshire.

Okinawa

Okinawa

I had never been to Okinawa, but heard many good things so this September we had a little trip. The first day was beautiful weather then the Typhoon came and our 1 night stay on a small island became a 3 night stay because all boats were cancelled! We still had a great time and met wonderful people.

On one island we stayed in a family run guest house/B&B, great food, warm welcome and free local alcohol with singing in the evening.
